Hai, welcome back to my blog. Today I would like to continue my book's review, about "What can I do?" to be success in learning.
Chapter 3 ~What Can I Do?
In this chapter explained about the key to success in learning is to be able to respect himself, feel confident in what he has. As well as parental love which is the motivation of a child in the learning process.
There is always a factor behind the lack of success of learning.
The first factor, the background does not support, the background in question is the support of parents who are very minimal for their children. His parents also rarely show signs of affection for children, this makes children feel unloved and the foundation for paralyzing
pride.
The second factor, there is no social support means that children do not have friends or environment that supports themselves so they can be motivated in the learning process.
The third factor, the desire for perfection, a child who lacks the love of parents and the environment does not support is very ambitious to become a champion or the best, they are ambitious not to get satisfaction but they are ambitious only to be considered in the environment of his family and surroundings.
From these factors we must carry out our role for successful learning going forward and involve collaboration between 3 parties, namely parents, teachers and students.
Tips from Dr. Josephine Kim about how to be a good parent.
1. Be positive, Positive can be expressed by your body language and the way you speak. One way to express positivity is to use praise. Praising your child makes them feel happy and valued, it increases their self-esteem because they convince them that what they are doing is good.
2. Forgive yourself, Don’t feel so guilty about the things that we should be doing
rather than what we are doing. For example, as a working Mom/ Dad there must be times when you wished that you could have spent more time with your child but think of it like this. Your child is going to see an independent and empowered person that is able to take care of themselves and is useful to society on a lot
of levels. In a way that is beneficial for your child because that way they are able to say
“ Whoa if my parents can do it, then I certainly can do it.” it instills pride in your child when they see what you are doing. Seeing their parents loving their jobs and being good at them is a good example to portray.
Second factors from teacher.
Sometimes in teaching we miss the most fundamental thing which is the value and importance of human connection, relationships. Building a good relationship with your students is the key point for helping them. It is very important for educators to pay attention to their interactions with their students. Teachers must portray appropriate attitudes and treat their students equally. It is hard as sometimes you will not like all of your students. But the trick is, they can never know. Rita Pierson said "educators become great actors and actresses, and we come to work when we don't feel like it, and we're listening to policy that doesn't make sense, and we teach anyway. We teach anyway, because that's what we do.” Teachers need to make the student feel like they are somebody and are appreciated so that a good relationship can be established. Every child deserves a champion, an adult who will never give up on them because when someone really takes the time to teach with all their heart, the student will feel it and they will successfully learn.
The last factors from the student.
We cannot control the environment that is brought to us since birth, where we live, who our parents are, what our skin color is, and so on. What we can control are our choices. We have a choice, in a bad environment or a good one to be the best we can be. Simply because we are born into an unsupportive environment doesn’t mean that we will grow up to be like the people there. Our power is the choices that we make. .Whether to get carried away by the tide or have your own current. To establish your own current, you must first have enough power, this power comes from within. The confidence of your own voice is what you need for you to make the right choices.
Thus those are some factors that you can do to be success in learning. Next post will be the last part of this book's review. Thanks for your visit !!
Review Chapter 2 from book The Secret of Succesful learning
Hallo the readers, welcome back to my blog. Today i will explain Chapter 2 from book The secret of succesful learning . In the chapter 2 explain about ~The effect of the environment and The Relationship between Self Esteem and learning.
Okay let's going to the topic.
Point 1
~The Effect of The Environment~
Our environment affects us greatly and it is not only social media but also our family and friends. People you communicate with daily affects your behavior and mindset. If they always talk about positive things, you will be positive as well. On the other hand, if they frequently say negative things, you will more likely be negative as well.
Examples that often occur between students are bullying each other and being avoided from friends, this will adversely affect the self-esteem of a student who becomes a victim. While those who bully can pollute the negative impact on other friends so that those who only follow along or just go with the flow that are not good will lose their identity so that they are easily influenced. This is very dangerous because if they cannot filter out these negative influences they will follow the flow of influence.
Another very popular example around us is Social media. Social media has helped us connect and share and it is attached to our daily routine, we see it everyday, everywhere. It becomes our environment, but it also creates another world for us. A world where we are measured by our likes, followers, subscribers, re-tweets, and so on. Numbers measure our worth in the social media world and it makes us forget the real world. To an extreme extent, a teenager might start to think that academics doesn't matter. Social status is what really matters. Measuring yourself with number is something that is insatiable as you will always want more and because there is always someone who has more followers, more likes, then your self worth decreases. Social media has arguably made teenagers who have to be fit in more than ever before. You just have to keep up with the latest trends or else people will call you lame. Your posts need to be popular and your followers need to be beautiful. There are just so many demands just to be "cool" nowadays.
Environment is the most important thing in a person's life. The good and bad of a person can be seen from their environment socializing both in the family, school, and society. A good environment can make someone good as well as vice versa. Someone who has a good job is born from a good environment so that it has many positive effects on him.

Point 2
~ The Relationship between Self Esteem and
Learning~
How can the self esteem be applied to
enhance your child / student / and your own learning capabilities? a student needs to be recognized in the classroom by a teacher. For example, when a student does not like English subjects, the task of a teacher is to provide interesting material material so that students can be interested in the material so that there is no element of compulsion from a student to like the material. At this point it is also explained that a teacher must increase a student's self-esteem and confidence by giving encouragement or motivation.
For example, a student asks many questions to his teacher and the teacher answers enthusiastically and makes eye contact with the student to explain carefully. So that students feel the question is valued and a little more confident because the teacher recognizes the existence of the student in the class.
A student's motivation will increase if there is trust. When you feel like you believe you will face all your problems immediately with determination to succeed only because you can. This mentality makes students really do their best and automatically improve their performance. This encouragement and motivation will automatically lead you to be the smartest one in your class about it. Not because you are forced to study every night but because you want to be the best and you can be the best

The synopsis The secret of successful learning
Author: Maria Monalisa Victorio Handoko
Pages: 72
Everyone faces challenges during their school life. Whether they are because of fellow students, academic pressure, or high expectations, we have all been there. In order to overcome these challenges, we must learn to put up a fight. This fight can only be won by the collective effort of three parties;parents, students, and teachers. Successful learning cannot be achieved if parents are unsupportive or if teachers do not nurture their students properly. Problems like bullying, lack of motivation, laziness or academic pressure can be tackled if we understand the root of the problem. And those problems do have a single source.
Anda now , i want to explain chapter 1 in this book.
Chapter 1 ~Expectations~
Parents always expect to have children who are successful at school and if they succeed there, they will be more likely success in real life. Education is one of the means to climb social ladder if the higher education you get, the more you get decent in the community. To liken teachers and students like gardeners and plants, the teacher is a gardener who always gives good seeds to plants until they grow into beautiful plants. Likewise with students, a teacher provides knowledge, teaches good attitudes and always motivates students to be successful in the future. In fact, this question is not as easy as it works because there is something more important than academic studies, namely "self-esteem" why it is said like that because what the study is not only makes students know in their time but a process that can be taken or remembered into adulthood .
Example, imagine you are a student, who always makes it to the top 2% of your school, or even your country, but you do this because your parents always remind you to study. High school, your identity is "the smartest student" and you live up to that title. Years later, you enter an Ivy League university, but when you get there, you are more likely to develop it inferiority complex which means that you must always be number one but in reality there is always someone better than you. when you realize that you are not the best student like You always go back to high school to make you lose your identity and now what you are going to do is become yourself again to get good grades as before in whatever way is needed if it means cheating because you are justified by the results. What is meant by learning? no, it's not a learning process. We can't survive twenty first century with just learning. Students must be equipped with the right mental strength to survive, face competition and truly be successful. This is achieved by having good self-esteem.
According to Dr. Josephine Kim, a professor at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Self-esteem is the most important because when you have confidence in yourself, you are sure and you believe in yourself no matter what happens. You can do any. Be anyone. On the other hand, if you are low in self-esteem it will prevent you from reaching your potential. you automatically withdraw from others because of you think you're not good enough. When that start starts you block yourself from the opportunities and opportunities you can take. And then you end up with nothing, because you feel like nothing.
Okey the readers i hope you can the benefite from the review. See you on the next chapter . And thankyou for visit in my blog :) cya^^

The synopsis Teach Like Finland
Maybe we always hope that education in Indonesia is the same as education in Finland which is as the direction of education in the world. whatever the book synopsis teach like Finland? look at this guys . . .
Title : Teach Like Findland
Author : Timothy D. Walker
Pages : 270
Easy to implement classroom lessons from the world’s premier educational system.
Finland shocked the world when its fifteen-year-olds scored highest on the first Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), a set of tests touted for evaluating critical-thinking skills in math, science, and reading. That was in 2001 but even today this tiny Nordic nation continues to amaze. How does Finnish education with short school days, light homework loads, and little standardized testing produce students who match the PISA scores of high powered, stressed out kids in Asia?
When Timothy D. Walker started teaching fifth graders at a Helsinki public school, he began a search for the secrets behind the successes of Finland’s schools. Walker wrote about several of those discoveries, and his Atlantic articles on this subject became hot topics of conversation. Here, he gathers all he learned and reveals how any teacher can implement many of Finland's best practices.
Remarkably, Finland is prioritizing the joy of learning in its newest core curricula and Walker carefully highlights specific strategies that support joyful K-12 classrooms and integrate seamlessly with educational standards in the United States.
From incorporating brain breaks to offering a peaceful learning environment, this book pulls back the curtain on the joyful teaching practices of the world's most lauded school system. His message is simple but profound: these Finland-inspired strategies can be used in the U.S. and other countries. No educator or parent of a school-aged child will want to miss out on the message of joy and change conveyed in this book.
“[Walker] provides an engaging and eye-opening vision that does not pit America against Finland, but lets us see what we can learn from each other. For teachers and education advocates who would like to understand one instructor's reflective quest toward educational improvement.”
Walker offers realistic tips on creating joyful schools, arranged according to five 'ingredients' of happiness: well being, belonging, autonomy, mastery and mindset. The tips are prefaced with lively anecdotes from the author's own classroom experiences and often reveal how he overcame American biases to embrace them. They all highlight how we can learn to value happiness more than achievement. More joy in classrooms and less work for teachers as the way to improving student learning?Sounds incredible, but the Finns have figured it out, and Tim Walker explains how American educators can do the same in this engaging and important book. Teach Like Finland deserves to be widely read and discussed.
Learning will run very pleasant if the teacher who functions as a facilitator can provide this atmosphere and government support that is very enthusiastic about education will create a more advanced education in Indonesia. and I hope education in Indonesia always gets attention from the government from all aspects so as to create a more advanced education.
I recommend this book to be read by a teacher and prospective teacher. Thankyou for visit in my blog ☺
